Kibale Forest National Park is set suitably in western Uganda approximately 4-5 hours’ drive away from Kampala and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is situated in extreme southwestern Uganda about 540kms from Kampala.

Detailed Itinerary for 5 Days Uganda Chimpanzee And Gorilla Trekking Safari
Day 1: Drive from Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park
Start your day with a tasty cup of Uganda tea or coffee at your preferred hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. After, get a warm welcome from one of our experienced driver guides who will brief you on what your 5 days chimpanzee and gorilla trekking tour is all about.
Later, you will head off to western Uganda via Kampala-Mubende-Fort Portal route to Kibale National Park. En-route, you will have a stopover at Nakayima tree and in Fort Portal for lunch before connecting to Kibale National Park which is about 26kms drive from Fort Portal Town.
Kibale National Park is a home to 13 unique species of primates and they include over 1500 chimpanzees, L’Hoest monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys, pottos, bush babies, olive baboons and over 350 bird species, butterflies as well as varied floral species. Arrive early enough and pay a visit to Amabere g’nyina mwiru. Accommodation options: Primate Lodge/Crater safari lodge/Ndali lodge/Kyaninga lodge.
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale and guided nature walks in Bigodi wetland
After an early morning breakfast at your respective lodge, you will gather at Kanyanchu visitor center to have briefing on the set safety measures for chimpanzee tracking. Later, you will be put in a group of 6 visitors and be accompanied by one park ranger guide.
You will then hit the jungles of Kibale Forest National Park to search for chimpanzees and upon finding them, you have an hour to have magical encounter with these unique creatures, take photos and explore their behaviors. Chimpanzee trek in Kibale National Park also allows you catch a glimpse at varied bird species, other primates to mention but a few.
After, walk back or be driven back to the lodge to have lunch and in the afternoon, you have afternoon guided nature walk in Bigodi wetland that will reward you with amazing encounters at varied primates, birds and other unique creatures that are inhabited in this lush wetland. Day 3: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Start your day with an early morning breakfast and after, check out from the lodge and drive to Bwindi National Park which is situated in southwestern Uganda. Drive via Ishasha sector and while here, don’t miss to catch a glimpse at the unique tree climbing lions and then proceed to Bwindi National Park. Accommodation options: Buhoma Lodge/Mahogany Springs Lodge (Luxury), Silverback Lodge (Midrange) or Buhoma Community Rest Camp (Budget).
Day 4: Mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi National Park
After an early morning breakfast, you will gather at the park headquarters (Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga or Nkuringo sector depending on where your gorilla permit directs you to) for briefing safety measures for gorilla trekking. Since a trek to view mountain gorillas take about 2 to 6 hours, you need to come along with some packed lunch and drinking water.
The length of gorilla trek in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park depends on your hiking speed, nature of habitat and location of mountain gorillas. Upon finding these creatures you have an hour to have magical encounter with them, take as many photos as possible, explore their behaviors and body gestures.
After, return to the lodge to have a rest and in the evening, you either embark on community walk to Batwa community. Accommodation options: Buhoma Lodge/Mahogany Springs Lodge (Luxury), Silverback Lodge (Midrange) or Buhoma Community Rest Camp (Budget).
Day 5: Drive back to Kampala/Entebbe
