Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After your breakfast, you will be picked from the hotel by our driver guide at 6:00am and drive South-west wards towards the National Park through the Kampala-Masaka- Ntungamo-Rukungiri road. There will be a brief stopover at the Uganda Equator along Kampala-Masaka highway to take photographs and be marveled by the wonderful landmark. You will proceed and have another stopover at Mbarara Town for lunch then continue to the Park as you relish the breathtaking views of the Kigezi highlands and the long horned cattle that are common in western Uganda.
Travel time is 6-8 hours; hence you will arrive at the Park in the evening.
The Meal plan is lunch and dinner, and overnight will be at Buhoma Lodge/Silverback Lodge for luxury accommodation, Lake Kitandara Bwindi Camp for midrange facilities or Bwindi Guesthouse/Buhoma Community Rest Camp for budget accommodation.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast at the Lodge, you will be required to report at the Park Headquarters or the Ranger Camp at 7am for the pre-tracking guidelines. Make sure you are dressed for the occasion, that includes long trousers, long sleeved shirt, rain jacket, strong waterproof hiking boots, a hat and carry a walking stick, a backpack for your drinking water, the camera, packed lunch or snacks and don’t forget to hire porters from the Park Headquarters to help you in hiking or to carry your daypack.
You will be assigned to one of the gorilla groups in the Park then start hiking through the steep, densely forested hills until meeting the gorilla family you were assigned to. Tracking time ranges from one to six hours and once the Giant Apes are sighted, tourists are supposed to spend strictly one hour with them and make sure to maintain a distance of 7 meters away from the Primates.
These Gentle giants are always found feeding, grumbling to one another, resting, grooming or the infants frolicking and swinging from one tree branch to the other. The most interesting thing about gorilla trekking in this Park is that you will not only see the Mountain gorillas but also other primates like the Grey checked mangabey, Black and white Colobus monkeys, the blue monkeys and L’Hoest’s monkeys in addition to several bird species. After enjoying your one hour with the gorilla family, you will go back to the Safari lodge to relax or for overnight.
Meal plan is full board and overnight is in Buhoma Lodge/Silverback Lodge for luxury accommodation, Lake Kitandara Bwindi Camp for midrange or Bwindi Guesthouse/Buhoma Community Rest Camp for budget accommodation.
Day 3: Nature walks/hiking and the Batwa experience
The third day will introduce you to yet another exceptional experience-nature walks. You will have breakfast then proceed to the Park Headquarters for briefing and continue to the Jungles to explore one of the hiking trails in the Park that include the Munyanga River Trail, the Muzabajiro loop trail, the Rushura Hill Trail, the Ivy River Trail, the Kashasha River Trail, the Bamboo Trail, the Mubwindi Swamp trail or the Habinyanja (Railegh) trail where you will encounter over 12 species of primates such as the Vervet monkeys, the Chimpanzees, red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys and the L’Hoest’s monkeys as well as a number of bird species including the Albertine Rift endemic bird species. You will then head back to the Lodge for Lunch and relax as you prepare for the next activity.
In the afternoon, you will go for the exhilarating Batwa experience to enjoy different ancient activities of the Batwa people before they were displaced from the Park. You will enjoy their ancient hunting skills, visit the traditional herbalist and be marveled at how fire is made by rubbing sticks. The Batwa experience is so breathtaking and unforgettable.
Meal plan is full board and overnight is in Buhoma Lodge/Silverback Lodge for luxury accommodation, Lake Kitandara Bwindi Camp for midrange or Bwindi Guesthouse/Buhoma Community Rest Camp for budget accommodation.
