Detailed Tour Plan for the 3 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari
Day 1: Drive to Volcanoes National Park
Have the best of your Rwanda tea or coffee and after or upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, meet our driver guide who will give you a quick briefing on what your 3 days Rwanda safari is all about.
After, you have a quick Kigali city tour which takes you to historic and cultural sites like the Kigali genocide sites for you to about the 1994 Rwandan genocide; Kandt national museum and presidential museum, craft markets in case time permits. You will have lunch in a hotel in Kigali Town and after, drive to Volcanoes National Park in the northwest.
Your journey will cover about 2-3 hours and this gets you the best view of breathtaking rolling hills in this particular part of the country. Dine and spend a night at Kinigi Guesthouse (Basic), Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge (mid-range), Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury).
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Start the day with delicious breakfast and after, head off to Volcanoes National Park headquarters at Kinigi with your snacks and adequate bottled water. You will join other visitors to have briefing on the set safety measures for trekking mountain gorillas and this starts at 7:00am and the actual trek begins at 8:00am.
It is during this day that you will be allocated to one gorilla group to track in a group of eight visitors and one experienced park ranger guide. Your trek may take you 2-5 hours although this may depend on your hiking speed, nature of habitat and where these creatures are.
Upon finding them, you have an hour of magical encounter, photography and exploring their behaviors. Thereafter, return to the lodge to rest and in the evening, you can embark on a walk to twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo or simply relax at the lodge. Dine and spend a night at Kinigi Guesthouse (Basic), Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge (mid-range) or Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury).
Day 3: Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village visit/golden monkey trekking, return to Kigali
Have breakfast early in the morning and after, you have a cultural exploration in Iby’Iwacu cultural village to have the best of cultural dances and music performances as well as learn about the unique history of the Rwandans.
Alternatively, you can embark on golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park. After, get back to have rest and then hit the road back to Kigali which marks the end of your 3 days Rwanda gorilla safari. End of safari
